Run the Color Gauntlet

Register by August 7th, receive free t-shirt, sunglasses and color powder.

The Springfield, VT wrestling team is working hard to raise $10,000 for new wrestling mats. About half-way there already with monies raised from spaghetti suppers and tournament fees, the team is hosting a new kind of fundraiser this summer: The Color Gauntlet. A roughly 5K untimed round-trip fun-run or walk, the Gauntlet takes place on Saturday, August 29th on the Toonerville Trail recreation path in Springfield, parallel to the Black River on one side and Clinton St (Rte 11) on the other.

Pre-register by August 7th for just $25 either online at www.active.com (use search term “Color Gauntlet” in Springfield, VT) or in person at the Edgar May Rec Center at 140 Clinton Street in Springfield, VT. After August 7th, the price goes up to $35, up to and including race-day. Kids of all ages are welcome (10 & under are free), but please leave the family dog at home.

The race kicks off at 9AM and wraps up by 12 noon, with lunch available for purchase at the finish line courtesy of The Silver Bullet. The Bullet will donate 10% of the race proceeds to the team, and will match the final amount.

The registration fee includes a free event t-shirt (white with the event logo, so participants can get squirted with colored powder!), a pouch of color to participate in the “powder party” at the finish line, and more.

If your business or community organization is interested in sponsoring the Gauntlet, your logo will appear on the back of our shirts; please contact event organizer Angela Ferland before August 7th to make arrangements.

Event details and schedule

Participants can begin arriving on race day, Saturday, August 29, 2015, at 7:30 AM at the SRDC parking lot located at 290 Clinton Street, the Toonerville Trail head, for pre-registered packet pick-up and same day registration. The “Color Gauntlet” Wrestling 5K will begin at 9:00 AM and all festivities will conclude at 1:00 PM. The 3.1 mile trek is relatively flat, paved, and easily accessible by strollers and wheel chairs. Please be sure to leave the dogs at home. The fee for the “Color Gauntlet” Wrestling 5K will be $25.00 per person on or before August 7, 2015 and $35.00 thereafter. Children 10 and under are free but will not receive a souvenir t-shirt, sunglasses, or color powder (these items can be purchased separately on the day of the race). We would recommend watching the weather to help you determine appropriate attire for the color run/walk. We strongly recommend sneakers and race attire that is comfortable, but keep in mind some staining may occur even though the colored powder is made of cornstarch and food coloring paste. Please be sure to bring your ID, water bottle, sneakers, family, friends, and your sense of adventure.

Stop in at the Edgar May Rec Center on Clinton St for a form and to drop off your check, or log onto www.active.com and look up Color Gauntlet on August 29 in Springfield.
