Springfield Elks annual dictionary giveaway

For the past 12 years, Springfield Elks Lodge 1560 has awarded all third graders at Union Street School with their very own Elks dictionary to keep and use at home or in school.

FOSTL book sale at the Springfield armory

Join the Friends of the Springfield Town Library (FOSTL) for their book sale on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the armory on Fairground Road. All children’s books are free, others by donation.

World-renowned children’s author, Vermont resident, and frequent VHC presenter Katherine Paterson will speak next month in Springfield about her work including her book, Bread and Roses, Too, the Vermont Reads book for 2018.

After penning her first book as a second-grader (the main characters were pencils), Erin Rounds told herself, “When I grow up I’m gonna be a teacher and I’m gonna be a writer!”

Springfield library book sale blow out

It was a great turnout this Friday the 13th for the first hour of the biggest book sale in Springfield.   The sale continues until 6 pm. Then on Saturday, July 14th the sale begins again at 8 am and closes at 4 p.m.

Teachers donate children’s books to Springfield holiday program

Current and former teachers, members of Alpha Delta Kappa in Springfield, are donating more than 100 books for children who participate in the Downtown Family Holiday Program.
