Winning!
Sierra Kent was the grand prize winner tonight at the 59th annual Rotary Penny Sale. Kent, a school nurse at Springfield High School, got to take home a check for $5,000 cash. Marshall Brown of Springfield (left) won the $500 door prize drawing. Over 300 other donated prizes were given away at Riverside gymnasium where a near capacity crowd had gathered for the annual event which raises money for local charities.

The town of Springfield got a crash course on the ins and outs of Act 248 this week. The state law governs utility construction projects, which in Springfield’s case would include the proposed $180 million biomass plant proposed for the North Springfield Industrial Park.
