A businessman long active in the Northampton, Mass. area hospitality trade, and who had recently made a significant comeback with the reincarnation of Page's Loft, died over the weekend in Springfield, Vermont.

A 56-year-old Arlington man was killed Monday evening after he was struck by a tractor trailer in the southbound lane of Interstate 91 near a closed rest area on the Springfield-Rockingham town line.

Springfield water rate to increase 69 percent in July

The Springfield Select Board approved new water and sewer rates Monday night, with the water portion showing a 69 percent increase. The sewer portion is going up 1.5 percent, according to Jeff Mobus, the town’s finance officer.
