Snowstorm causes morning power outages

About 12,000 CVPS customers were without power this morning. Heavy wet snow began building up and bringing down trees, tree limbs and lines primarily in Windham and Windsor counties around 4:30 a.m.

Repairs complete, route 106 now open in its entirety

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) today made holiday travel a little easier for some as it reopened Route 106 through Weathersfield, which had been closed since Tropical Storm Irene struck nearly three months ago.

What a difference a day makes

Late yesterday afternoon, Springfield was still looking green with totally clear skies above. This morning we awoke to 8 inches of instant winter.

The Springfield School District finally unloaded one of their closed down school buildings this morning and the new owners couldn't be happier with the deal.

A 25,000 gallon underground storage tank was removed from the former Bryants property in Springfield last week and, finally, remediation work has started at the former J & L Plant 1 site.

New ownership of old school

After years of effort, the non-profit North School Preservation Society is about to be granted full legal ownership of the old North Springfield Grade School and its surrounding recreation land.

Springfield parks and recreational fields now smoke-free

Scouting Salute to Veterans parade

Veterans listen to a ceremony today honoring them and all the brave men and women who continue to preserve our freedom. They were part of a large parade through downtown which featured groups of scouts and veterans from throughout the state, the National Guard, and Gov. Peter Shumlin.

Gov. Peter Shumlin told Springfield business leaders Thursday there was more downtown redevelopment going on in Springfield than any other community in the state.
