Springfield High School Drama Club will present Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” the evenings of December 3rd, 4th and 5th. This production will take place at The Springfield Community Players’ Studio on South St.

North Springfield School Changes

A huge 5,500 gallon underground heating oil tank was recently unearthed from behind North School and recycled as scrap metal. The building's heating system has not been in use since the school was closed down over 20 years ago.

A former Springfield High School employee who moved to California before giving up his Vermont teaching license Nov. 12 will be arraigned on criminal charges Tuesday.

Hospital janitor accused of raping child

A janitor at the Springfield Hospital is facing the potential of up to life in prison after a 15-year-old girl came forward and told authorities he had repeatedly raped and otherwise sexually assaulted her over the course of four years beginning when she was a second-grader.

School Board to appeal town assessment

The Springfield School Board plans to appeal the town’s assessment on the former North School, which will be turned over to a community group in the future.

Polls were open to Springfield registered voters on November 2nd from 8:00 a.m.to 7:00 p.m. at Riverside Middle School. Weather was mostly sunny, with a high near 46 and a calm wind becoming northwest between 5 and 8 mph by afternoon. There was a high voter turnout.

An engineer with the Agency of Natural Resources dam safety office was in town last week to review the condition of the town-owned Weathersfield reservoir.
