11th Annual RiverSweep cleans up

Over 60 volunteers, including a pack of cub scouts and a team of workers from Black River Produce, showed up Saturday morning to help clean up the Black River in Springfield.

Diesel fuel release poses challenge for Saturday river sweep

The intentional and criminal release of more than 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel into he Black River earlier this month poses some challenges for the annual volunteer effort to pull trash out of the river in downtown Springfield scheduled for tomorrow morning.
